Choose-Your-Own-Adventure: Conflict Map (Articulate Storyline)

Project Overview

I designed this scenario-based learning experience for adult learners to explore a “day in the life” of a dog grooming student. Built as a choose-your-own-adventure interaction, the module allows learners to make decisions throughout the day and experience the consequences of those choices in a realistic training environment.

The Problem

Conflict and communication challenges are common in training environments, but they are difficult to teach effectively through linear instruction. Learners often understand expectations in theory, yet struggle to anticipate how everyday decisions can escalate or resolve conflict in real-world situations.

The Solution

I created an interactive conflict map that places learners in realistic situations and asks them to choose how they would respond at key moments throughout the day.

The experience:

  • Presents multiple decision points with branching paths
  • Shows how small choices can lead to different outcomes
  • Emphasizes cause-and-effect rather than “right vs. wrong” answers
  • Encourages reflection on professionalism, communication, and accountability

The non-linear structure allows learners to explore consequences safely and replay scenarios to see how different decisions change the outcome.

Outcome

The final interaction gives learners a practical way to experience the impact of their choices in a realistic training context. Rather than passively reviewing rules or expectations, learners actively engage with scenarios that mirror challenges they are likely to encounter, supporting deeper understanding and discussion.
